Oxford stylee

I've been searching for the perfect pair of black and white oxford heels for ages. I adore these ones (Dolce Vita from Urban Outfitters) however I'm hesitant of spending so much without being able to try them on and check the quality.

These ones are a lot cheaper... but I'm not sure if I like them more... they both have so many beautiful qualities. I've also noticed the local chain store Shoo Biz has just got in an ugly version of these shoes. I'm not sure I'd love them as much if this style becomes a common trend.

I think I'll just have to sit on it, and keep searching!

dream, dream, dream

I wish I had a fabulous cocktail party to attend tonight, but since it looks like a trip to the gym and the new episode of desparate housewives, I'll have to make do with planning my outfit on Polyvore.

This little piggy went wee wee wee all the way home

I'm a little bit obsessed with Agathe from Style Bytes, but no where near as obsessed as I am with her piglet Molvin. I want a mini piggy now, and I can't stop looking at this photo, the cutest one ever taken:

If you can look at that and not want a piggy of your very own, I don't think you have a heart. Luckily, I already have the best/smartest/cutest puppy in the word. Toblerone:

Who needs a boyfriend when you can have a pet that cute!?

Head over to the delightful sfgirlbybay and check out her lovely photographic journey of a walk through San Francisco. Too sweet for words.

First brief of the year

I've survived the first week back at fashion school. And now the work begins. Our first assignment is to explore the city we live in, and be inspired by this city in two ways. Firstly, we must find a niche market within the city to design for, and secondly find inspiration somewhere within the city to design and make a range of garments. I haven't really started to think about it yet, but I think I want to make something with a lot of contrast, because that's how I see my home and my life. I'll update the blog as I develop my ideas.

All the world's a stage...

What day is today?

Today is a day to wear a hat! I have a sizeable collection of awesome hats, but rarely feel comfortable enough to wear them. They pretty much override everything else in an outfit, so ya gots to be careful you don't go out looking like a poser. If you like awesome hats, check out Melbourne's marvelous Richard Nylon.

Agyness Mania!

I haven't been able to get Agyness Deyn out of my head recently, and I never usually care that much about models. She has zing and individuality, and I hope she's around for a long long time!

It's her birthday next week, and she's having a party in downtown NY tonight. Aaaaah, can you imagine a cooler party? In the words of fashionista:

''Agyness' friends The MisShapes will DJ, British girls like Lily Donaldson will flock, and unlike other fashion parties, people will actually dance, jump, shout, scream, and have an amazing time.''

And while we're speaking of Agyness, I love the new Burberry ads. I've never been drawn to Burberry, but these make the label so much more young and fun and happy!

And, to tell a shameful secret, my favourite part is that the boy in the blue coat has chipped nail polish on, which is something that often accompanies my own outfits. But hey, if anyone picks me up on it, I'll just roll my eyes and show them this picture... I'm chic, right?? ;)

Oh Topshop, why do you play these games with me?

Before I lived in England, Topshop used to be in my thoughts when awake, and my dreams when asleep. I was always seeing things in magazines or on websites and longed for them to be mine. Then, when I arrived in the UK I headed straight for my closest store. I was shocked that I wanted NOTHING, but I was also relieved as I had no money. Over the corse of a year I made frequent trips to various shops in the chain, always convinced that THIS was the trip when I was going to find the bag of my dreams, or the trendy dress that I would treasure all season (and a lot longer). But it wasn't to be, I never found anything I wanted and left the UK topshopless. It was probably for the best, because my luggage was 12 kilos overwieght. Now that I'm back in Australia it seems that every time I check the website I find something stunning. Most recently, these shoes:
And they now do ship to Australia, but I'm still a bit timid. How can you tell what something is like from a photo? Or if it will fit properly? Also, now that I'm no longer earning in pounds, and am living on a student's budget, the exchange rate seems a little steep... Are they too gorgeous to go on sale in a couple of weeks?
